Two out of three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer, yet most cannot identify a melanoma, highlighting the need for a national screening policy. To raise awareness, we created a sculpture at Tamarama Beach that grew and changed like melanoma, spreading across the nation to spark a conversation about saving lives through better screening.

We used the world’s largest outdoor art festival – Sculpture by the Sea - to create the show’s first ever growing, evolving, changing sculpture.

Over the course of the two weeks, the structure changed size, shape and even colour, to emulate the different stages of a cancerous sunspot and spread an important message of how to spot the signs.
